The campus’ concern about hazing led to reform in the l94O’s. On November 3, 1941, Ohio Alpha presented IFC with a plan to "Do away with campus hazing.”
The 40’s were also a time of concern over the brewing war with Germany and Japan. The House set its directions and on December 8th, 1941 (the day after Pearl Harbor) decided to lookout for the future of the house during the war, by getting more pledges to fill the vacancies left by the fellows that would be leaving.
On April 3, 1942, Dean Huber remarked to the Brotherhood that at a meeting of the Ohio College Association he was told that the war will “probably last quite some time and some fraternities will probably be closed, so we should guard accordingly.”
